This was a project to work on light and shadows in adobe illustrator. My main goal was to recreate a watch in a way that will look realistic using gradients and blending modes based on what I saw in the photo, not universal symbols that our human brains make up.

I first started out sketching what I was able to see from the watch I would be recreating. I drew out basic shapes and broke them down into steps I could create in illustrator. 

These are my first couple drafts of the watch. I first did a flat vector to get the basic layout of the watch. I then went in to work on the highlights and shadows. It was a difficult task! I had to mess around with it for a while until it felt natural. My client suggested to work on the shadows on the gold connectors from the band to the base of the watch, and also add a gradient to the darker circle on the base of the watch to make it blend a little better.

This is my final product of the watch. I was able to create what I saw and not come focus on universal symbols of a watch to create a realistic watch. I was able to work with gradients to successfully get the correct lights and shadows of the watch.
